Candidiasis or Vaginal Yeast Infections are caused by the overproduction of yeast in the vagina. This can cause itching, swelling, and overall intense irritation. It has been noted that three out of every four women experience yeast infections at some point in life. It’s also been documented that if you have had a yeast infection it the past, you are more likely to get another one in the future than an individual that has never had the infection.
This infection can be spread via sexual intercourse. Men are also capable of getting this type of infection.
The imbalance of yeast production can be cause by a number of different factors. These include:
- uncontrolled diabetes
- lack of sleep
- poor eating habits
- weak immune system
Now that you know what causes vaginal yeast infections, let’s take a look at some of the symptoms you should be watching out for. There are typically a few common ones that occur when you have a yeast infection. Itching, burning, swelling, pain during sex or urination, vaginal discharge, swollen labia, and rashes around the vaginal regions are all common symptoms of yeast infection.
It’s imperative to keep in mind that the longer you let the infection progress without treatment, the worse your symptoms will continue to get.
